Ella Mae Vande Wettering, age 91, of Kaukauna, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, January 12, 2020. She was born in Hollandtown on March 25, 1928, daughter of the late Lester and Cora (Arts) Eiting. She married Bob Vande Wettering on September 16, 1952, and were married for 51 years before his passing in 2004.
Ella Mae was a member of St. Francis Church for her entire life. She was extremely proud of her Hollandtown roots. She enjoyed her shopping trips and playing cards. Ella Mae was always up for going out to eat, with anyone and anywhere. Her life revolved around her family. She took great pride in raising her children on the farm and was always involved in her grandchildren’s activities. Ella Mae’s spunk, sassiness, sense of humor and her love will be deeply missed.
Ella Mae is survived by her children: Nancy (Don) Brockman, Doug (Dawn) Vande Wettering and Sherry (Joe) Peterson; grandchildren: Jodi (Darrin) Matthies, Jacki (Mike) Wegand, Joanne Brockman, Jane (Phil) Vande Voort, Jyl (Lyle) Hutchinson, Jesse (Liz) Brockman, Kurt (Melissa) Vande Wettering, Kyle Vande Wettering, Cody (Molly) Vande Wettering, Kayla (Chad) Van Asten, Derek (fiancé, Tiffany) Van Deurzen and Kelly Van Deurzen; great grandchildren: Brenna, Caleb, Micha, Ashlynn, Eli, Jordy, Lexi, Lane, Logan, Levi, Callie, Saylor, Brailey and two on the way; brothers and sisters-in-law: Paul Broeren, Ken (Lois) Vande Wettering and Pete (Marie) Vande Wettering; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives that were very special to her.
Ella Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Vande Wettering; a son, Dan Vande Wettering; her parents, Lester and Cora Eiting; siblings: Harlan (Therese) Eiting, Betty Lou (Ken) Thon, Alverne Broeren and Darlene (Erle) Deering.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home KAUKAUNA LOCATION, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive. A prayer service will conclude the evening. Visitation will continue Thursday, January 16, 2020, at St. Francis Catholic Church, 433 County Road CE, Hollandtown, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
