Diane Schmidt

Diane Marlene Schmidt, 65, of Kaukauna, WI, passed away unexpectedly December 27, 2018 at her home. She was born April 30th, 1953 in Owatonna, MN and was the daughter of Edward J. Warner and Mary E. (Spindler) Warner. She grew up on the family dairy farm, was involved in 4-H, and sang with the carolers in Owatonna. Diane attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1971. She graduated with high honors from the College of Saint Teresa in Winona in dietetics after an internship in Portland, OR in 1976. She also worked at the VA Hospital in Tomah, WI. Afterward, she worked in Fond du Lac, WI at St. Agnes Hospital as a dietitian. She took great pride and passion in her dietetics career. She met her husband, Jeff Schmidt, in Fond du Lac, and they wed on June 29, 1985 at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna.  She and Jeff worked together on their dairy farm, Sky-Hy Acres, in Kaukauna, WI and had two children, Crystal and Eric. Diane loved her children and was a devoted, caring mother. After her children grew up, Diane worked for nearly 15 years in food service at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital as a Room Service Associate. Diane enjoyed flowers, crafts, gardening, music, visiting her family in Minnesota, and her work colleagues, neighbors, and friends. She also volunteered at her church, St. Francis, in Hollandtown. 

She is survived by her loving and supportive husband Jeff, her daughter, Crystal Schmidt (Daniel Wewasson) of Eau Claire, WI, her son, Eric Schmidt of Milwaukee, WI, brother Ken (Jenell) Warner and sister, Shirley (Dave) Pfeifer all of Owatonna, MN. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters in-law: Judy (John) Bloch of Clearwater, FL, Gloria (Joe) Pieters of Boyceville, WI, Tom (Sally) Schmidt of De Pere, WI, and Tony (Sue) Schmidt of Forest Junction, WI. She is remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Len and Lori Schmidt. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at St. Katharine Drexel Church (St. Francis site) at 433 County Road CE, Kaukauna, WI 54130. Visitation begins at 2:00 PM, with a funeral mass to follow at 4:00 PM.
