David Charles Babauta

David C. Babauta, age 68, of Appleton, formerly of Little Chute, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. He was born in Annapolis, Maryland on May 21, 1949, son of the late Serafin “Pete” and Margaret (Janssen) Babauta. David was raised in Little Chute and attended St. John Catholic Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. While stationed in the Philippines, David met his wife and best friend, Florentina Rosete.

During his younger years, David enjoyed sports and later especially loved playing tennis and basketball with friends and family.  He was an avid Packer and Badger fan.  He loved spending time watching football. David was the type to do what meant most to him which was to put others before himself. He was a good man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. David was a man who was simple, loving and did what was best.

He is survived by his wife, Florentina; a daughter, Heather (Ted) Heilman; grandchildren: Logan, Brody and Allie; a sister, Judy Smith; nephews: Chris (Laura) Smith and Todd (Michelle) Smith; other extended family members and many friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Margaret; a brother-in-law, Larry Smith; and a nephew, Eric Smith.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
