Casey J. Van Cuyk, age 75, of Combined Locks, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born on April 10, 1943, son of the late George and Cora (Hermus) Van Cuyk.
Casey married Elaine DeBruin on April 16, 1966, at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute. He was a baker for Van Thull’s Bakery in Kimberly for many years. Casey then worked for Tri City Glass and Door until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors up in Northern Wisconsin. He loved being out on the lake or sitting around the campfire. Casey also enjoyed working with wood and spending time in his workshop. Time spent with his family was most important to Casey, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elaine; children: Jennifer (Geno) Hietpas, Linda (special friend, Marcus) Ziepke and John (Mary) Van Cuyk; grandchildren: Nicole (fiancé Chad) Hietpas, Rachelle (Brennan) Price, Joshua Ziepke, Samantha (special friend Drey) Ziepke, Adam (Trisha) Van Cuyk, Heather (Lloyd) Anderson and John (fiancé Meghan) Van Cuyk; great grandchildren: Ella and Logan Van Cuyk, Sarah and Faith Anderson and Kayden Price; siblings: Jerry Van Cuyk, LeRoy (special friend Ruth) Van Cuyk, Joanne (Vern) Roepcke, Rose Thiel and Mary Aerts; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Janice) DeBruin, Gordon DeBruin, Harry (Carol) DeBruin, Victor (Jean) DeBruin, Judy Menting, Mary Ann DeBruin and Juanita DeBruin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Casey was preceded in death by his parents, George and Cora; a brother, Francis Van Cuyk; brothers and sisters-in-law: Bunny Van Cuyk, Robert Thiel and Otis Aerts; and several of Elaine’s siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Casey’s name.
