Blanche Maier
Blanche Wilhelmina Gladiolus Maier, age 96, of Sherwood, peacefully passed away on Sunday May 26, at St Paul’s Elder Home, Kaukauna. Born on September 10, 1922 in Kaukauna, the daughter of Henry and Clara (VandenBoom) Jonen. Blanche married Hilary Maier, April 27, 1943 until his passing while on a motorcycle trip the summer of 1981.
They bought a small dairy farm and chickens near High Cliff State Park. Blanche worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 38 years as a seamstress. She sewed for many nuns, making curtains and hospital linens and mending what was necessary. For many years she sewed for friends with whatever they would challenge her with. She was very passionate about her flowers and landscaping by keeping Hilary busy with new ideas on changing her gardens. She and Hilary loved snowmobiling, bicycling, traveling with friends, motorcycling. God and Church were a very important part of her life.
Blanche is survived by her children: daughters, Judy (Don) and Diane (Ron) and son David (Debbie). Grandchildren: Rob (special friend Linda), Ann (Ryan), Ryan (Kay), Ross, RanaRose (Joey), Jennifer (Tony) and Jesse (Megan). Great-Grandchildren Amelia (Mitch), Allieson (Trey), Blake and TikkaRose. Wilma her cat and many special nieces and nephews.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hilary, daughter Patricia, sisters Agnes (Ed) and Laurine (George) and brothers Sylvester (Ruth), Clarence (Millie), Raymond and Frank (Christine).
Visitation at Sacred Heart Church, N369 Military Rd, Sherwood Monday June 3, 2019 from 10 – 11am with mass to follow. A special thanks to all compassionate caring staff at St. Paul Elder Home that helped mom through a hard time of adjusting her lifestyle and needed care.
A memorial is being established in Blanche’s name lieu of flowers.
