Alan Hansen Obituary

Alan G. Hansen, age 71, of Freedom, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a valiant fight against Parkinson’s Disease on Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was born on September 2, 1946, son of the late Arnold and Melba (Gustman) Hansen. On October 6, 1973, Alan married Patricia Schuh at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom.

Alan worked as a land surveyor for almost 40 years, first with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.  Later after retirement, he started his own business, Hansen Surveying.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army Reserves, and was a member of the Freedom VFW.  Alan was a life-long member at St. John Lutheran Church in De Pere.  He was an usher and communion distributor for many years. He was also a member of the Freedom School Board from 1986-2004, many of those years serving as the president.  He loved camping, fishing, traveling, riding his motorcycle, playing cards, going to the races, and spending time with friends and family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pat Hansen; daughters: Hollie (Tom) McVay, Heidi (Ted) Evers and Krystal (Michael) Schepp; grandchildren: Kaia, Kacey and Kole McVay, Millie and Lyddie Evers, Luna and Leo Schepp; a sister, Andrea Hansen (special friend, Tone Routheau); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bev Schuh, Merle (Sharon) Schuh, Betty (Carl) Evers, Jean (Allan) Tiedt, Darlene Haase, Bill (Lynda) Schuh, Joyce (Alan) Garvey, Dave (Kay) Schuh, Rick Schuh, Nancy (Randy) Smith, and Joe (Darla) Schuh; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Melba; mother and father-in-law, Al and Gen Schuh, brothers and sister-in-law: Jerry, Dan, Bernie and Carolyn Schuh and Daryl Haase.
