Paul G. Hopfensperger

Paul G. Hopfensperger, age 76, of Kaukauna passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at The Landings of Kaukauna. He was born on December 9, 1947 and was raised by his uncle Bob Hopfensperger on Lake Winnebago in Menasha. After high school Paul proudly served our country as a cook in the Navy. On July 3, 1971 he married Mary J. KIister. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter and 37 years before Mary preceded him in death on December 18, 2009. Paul was proud to be a Registered Nurse, working in area hospitals and nursing homes. He loved playing in his band, Hoppy and the Gophers. He played over 5,000 weddings and parties. Paul enjoyed camping and playing music around the campfire. He loved caring for his property in Hollandtown on his tractor and lawnmower. He had a unique sense of humor that will be missed by many. Above all, Paul was very proud of his daughter and his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Gretchen (Shaun) Shimek, Kaukauna; Evangeline and Nathaniel Shimek, at home; siblings: George (Cindy) Hopfensperger; Michael Hopfensperger; and several half siblings; nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his father, Bob, and his beloved wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by his sister Janet Stilen.

Funeral services for Paul will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish – St. Mary’s Site (119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna) with Father Ben Pribbenow officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be next to Mary in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
