Shirley J. (Garvey) Giesen, age 89, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. She was born on March 12, 1928, in Freedom, daughter of the late Henry and Josephine (Weyenberg) Garvey. Shirley attended St. Nicholas Grade School and Freedom High School. She married Lester Giesen on September 1, 1952, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lester Giesen; a daughter, Chris Wenzel; a son, Chuck (Amy) Giesen; grandchildren: Angela (Brody) Richter, Laura (Ben) Vorwerk, Alyshia Giesen and Brittany Giesen; great grandchildren: Finley and Harlow Richter; brothers: Milo (Mary) Garvey and Vernon (Elaine) Garvey; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dorthy (Don) Wilkenson, Bernice Giesen, Jane Giesen and Dan Schultz; many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Giesen; a son-in-law, Alan Wenzel; siblings: Alma (Clarence) Weyenberg, Sis (Joe) Romenesko, Vance (Dolores) Garvey, Jerry (June) Garvey, Lowell Garvey and Percy (Bev) Garvey; brothers and sisters-in-law: Emily Garvey, Alice Garvey, Ruth (Stub) Hanson, John Giesen, Lawrence (Lucille) Giesen, Bill Giesen and JoAnn Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday (TODAY), March 31, 2017, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
The Giesen family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the St. Paul Home, especially those on Apple Tree Court, for all of the wonderful care given to Shirley.
