Shirley Ann Evers

Shirley A. Evers, 80, of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. She was born on October 8, 1935, daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Murphy) Van Hoof. On May 9, 1963, Shirley married Orville Evers at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on September 15, 2015.

Shirley enjoyed playing games and any sort of cards. She liked watching the Freedom wrestling team, Packers, Brewers and the Badgers. Shirley loved all sports, but especially the ones that her grandchildren were playing. She looked forward to her weekly trips to the movies with her sister and best friend, Jane. In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed bowling. Her greatest passion however was her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Paul Evers, Kevin (Connie) Evers and Scott Evers; grandchildren: Cole and Cameron Evers; a brother, Gary (Sue) Van Hoof; brothers and sisters-in-law: Janet Van Hoof, Mardie Smith, Eve Gambsky, Aud Huss, Shirley (Jerry) Broeren, Whitey Van Asten and Helen Evers.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Orv; her parents; siblings: Jane (Amil) Witter, Bob (Irene) Van Hoof, and Jim Van Hoof; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marian (Joe) Joosten, Joe Evers, Verne (Norb) Kaminski, Carol Jean Van Asten, Jim Smith, Fay Gambsky, Ron Huss and Dorothy (Carl) Reider.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
