Welcome to the memorial page for

Shirley M. Ernst

May 10, 1951 ~ April 16, 2016 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Shirley M. Ernst, 64, passed away April 16, 2016, with family and friends at her side after a courageous battle with adrenal cancer. Shirley was born May 10, 1951, in Appleton, daughter of Delbert and Alvina Ernst.

Shirley was on the go changing her surroundings by moving more than fifteen times. She enjoyed her many pet dogs through the years and treated each one of them like family. Shirley always had the biggest dog in the neighborhood. She treasured her collections whether spoons, dolls, unicorns or baseball cards. She enjoyed bargain hunting and collecting the antiques she accumulated along the way. In recent years, most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending her time with her best friend, Sheila, doing crafts and just about anything else. Shirley truly had a big heart and would help others whenever she saw the need. Her faith is among the strongest as Shirley once again demonstrated to all close to her during her final days. She will be greatly missed.

Shirley is survived by her brothers: Greg (Honey) Ernst and Randy (Jean) Ernst; a sister, Janice Brum (special friend Trevor Rattray); nephews: Shawn Powell, Robert Ernst and Zachary Ernst; nieces: Paula Powell, Stephanie Ebben, Brittny Ernst, Janell Brum and great nephews, nieces and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Delbert and Alvina Ernst and a sister, Nancy Powell-Ducat.

A private service by Pastor David Parks from Appleton Gospel Church will be held.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shirley’s best friend Sheila Dorn for her friendship and the wonderful care Shirley received.

I am home in Heaven dear ones. Oh, so happy and so bright. There is perfect joy in beauty in His everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed, I am now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last. Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still. Try to look beyond earth’s shadows, pray to trust our Father’s will.
