Sandra J. Lopas, age 74, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, January 18, 2018, after a strong, valiant battle against a brief illness. She was born on December 23, 1943, daughter of the late Victor and Germila (Huss) Gerhartz. Sandy married Tom Lopas in September of 1968, and he preceded her in death in December of 2004.
Sandy loved cheering on her beloved Minnesota Vikings. She enjoyed sweets and her diet Coke. Sandy adored her grandchildren. To them, she was “Grandma by town.” They were her pride and joy and Sandy loved spending as much time with them as possible.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Scott) Johnson; grandchildren: Jersie and Jacob Johnson; a sister, Carol (Paul) Biese; brothers and sisters-in-law: Darlene Lopas, Bob (Donna) Lopas and Linda Lopas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; parents, Victor and Germila; and brothers-in-law: Don and Dave Lopas.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
The Lopas family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staffs at Rennes and Fresenius Dialysis Center, and to Dr. Ballard for all of the wonderful and compassionate care given to Sandy over the years. Also, a special thank you to all of Sandy’s friends and family for all of the support, especially Carol, Paul, Judy, Connie and Maureen. You were all very special to Sandy.
