John Henry "Yon" Verbruggen

John H. Verbruggen, 91, of Little Chute, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 15, 2015. He was born on January 23, 1923, in Holland, son of the late Henry and Caroline (Van Rhyn) Verbruggen. John married Elizabeth “Betty” Ebben on February 1, 1949, and together celebrated 65 years of marriage. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. John began his career working with his father at Verbruggen and Sons Construction. He retired as the building inspector for the Village of Little Chute. He was a long time member of the Little Chute Fire Department, Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, and the Little Chute Kiwanis Club.

John is survived by his wife, Betty; his children: Mike (Paula), Chris (Terry) Eiting, Don (Diane), Jerry (Denise) and Ann (Chris) Minten; a daughter-in-law, Connie Verbruggen; grandchildren: Jon Verbruggen, Dana (Ryan) Hausmann, Jill Eiting, Jenny (Andy) Sebero, Kaiti Verbruggen, Pete Verbruggen, Erin (Ben) Dercks, Jeff Verbruggen, Laura Verbruggen, Ashley Minten and Tyler Minten; great-grandchildren: Vander, Vosten, Drew and Jordy; a sister, Joanne; brothers and sisters-in-law: Barbara Levandowski, Marv (Mattie) Ebben, Ike (Bill) Hammen, Fr. Bertrand Ebben, O.P., and Mary Jane Verbruggen; and many other family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Todd; siblings: Jakie (Rich) Ebben, Casey Verbruggen, and infant brother Casey Verbruggen; brothers and sisters-in-law: Leslie Cobb, John Levandowski, Ione (Bill) Van Sambeek, Robert Ebben, Rita Ebben and infant Ida Ebben.
