As I just received this obituary today, I am sending this condolence after the funeral. I knew Gene through my niece-in-law Patti Peters.. I had a very high opinion of Gene. He was a man of high moral standards, and he had a great love for his family. The world is truly a poorer place with the loss of Gene.. However, I am sure that earth's loss is heaven's gain. I wish you Gene a very sad goodbye. I hope those closest to you will realize the great gift of your presence; that they enjoyed while you were here on earth.. Hopefully, those happy memories will sustain you while you grieve his loss. May God Bless you all: during this period of grief! Allen J. Bohl

I had the privilege of meeting Gene and spending an bit over an hour with him when I interviewed him for a story I was writing for the "Freedom Pursuit" about his trip to Washington DC with the Old Glory Honor Flight. I absolutely enjoyed that time with him--hearing about his military experience, his professional life, his family, and his lovely wife. I've interviewed and spent time with many people throughout my time in the media--both in television and print--and my short time visiting with Gene was one of my favorites. Thank you for sharing your husband, father, and grandfather with us. May God bless your family in the days, weeks, and months ahead, and may God be good to Gene forever.

Margaret Ann and family. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Gene was a very well-liked man and his obituary clearly indicated his love for his family and all he accomplished in his lifetime. I still remember babysitting for you and Gene. What a beautiful family and always good neighbors. I will keep all of you in my prayers during this difficult time. Trust in God to give you strength.

I worked with Gene at Superior Specialties and remember him well. Always so proud of his children and so in love with his wife. If I remember correctly, my sister had his daughter as a teacher. I am sure he will be very dearly missed. Prayers for peace to you all.

God's Blessings to Margaret Ann and lovely family at this sad time. Gene was a wonderful friend and we have many fond memories of our times together many years ago. Enjoyed playing cards, going to Kelly Lake, barbershop concerts, and many more fun times. Know he will be missed by his family and friends. Many prayers to all at this difficult time.
