Donald Verstegen

Our beloved father, brother, grandpa and great grandpa, Donald “Monus” Verstegen, age 88, Little Chute, passed away July 10, 2017. He is now at peace with our Lord and his loving wife, Doris and his son, Jim.

Don was born in Little Chute on November 1, 1928, son of the late George and Marie (Kees) Verstegen. He graduated from Little Chute High School in 1947 and married Doris Muthig on September 6, 1958. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #258 in Little Chute. Don loved to play cards and was involved with several different card clubs through the years. He drove truck for the Appleton Papers Lox Mill for 43 years before his retirement in 1991.

Don is survived by his children: Jeff Verstegen, Kaukauna; Jolene Verstegen, Little Chute; Judi (John) Wolf, Appleton; Jon Verstegen, Suamico; his grandchildren: Crystal (Cory) Solon, Derek (Valerie) Verstegen, Amy Losselyong, Joshua (Holly), Benjamin & Nicholas Wolf, and Sophia Verstegen; great-grandchildren:  McKenzie Gillis, Alaena & Aubrey Wolf and Marlee Verstegen; brothers: Carl and Ross Verstegen; sisters-in-law: Lois Selig and Geneva Muthig; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; a son, James Verstegen; his parents, George and Marie Verstegen; father and mother-in-law, John and Norma (Doehling) Muthig; brothers and sisters-in-law: Doris Verstegen, Marian Verstegen, Earl Muthig, Sylvester Muthig, Joyce (Robert) Balthazar and Kenneth Muthig; nieces and nephews: Marlene Lyons, Karen Kuchenbecker, Bruce Muthig and Doug Muthig.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, with Deacon Bud Klister officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at Hollander’s Pub and Grill following the memorial service.
