Carolyn Ann Schuh

Carolyn Ann Schuh, age 57, of Freedom passed away at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.  Carolyn was born in Two Rivers on March 19, 1961 to Karl and Mary Ann (Mahlik) Kaufmann.  She graduated from Two Rivers High School and attended Lakeshore Technical Institute. Carolyn married Richard Schuh on October 25, 1980 and moved to Freedom where they raised their two children.  Over the years, she was her children’s biggest fan and could always be found at their sporting events and extracurricular activities.  Carolyn enjoyed working at United Health Care for over 20 years, but nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren.  In her free time, she also was an avid stamper and scrapbooker.  For the past several years, Carolyn selflessly volunteered her time to help organize the Pink Pumpkin Walk/Run benefitting the Breast Cancer Family Foundation. 

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Rick, mother, Mary Ann Kaufmann, children Abby (Matthew) Slupski and Travis (Brittany) Schuh, and grandchildren, Lucas, Amelia, and a baby boy due in June.  She is also survived by her brothers, Keith (Ann) Kaufmann, Tim (Brenda) Kaufmann, and Bruce (Jill) Kaufmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bev Schuh, Merle (Sharon) Schuh, Betty (Carl) Evers, Jean (Al) Tiedt, Darlene Haase, Bill (Lynda) Schuh, Pat (Al) Hansen, Joyce (Al) Garvey, Dave (Kay) Schuh, Nancy (Randy) Smith and Joe (Darla) Schuh; and -many nieces and nephews. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Karl Kaufmann, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Aloysius and Genevieve Schuh, and brothers-in-law Jerry, Dan, and Bernie Schuh and Daryl Haase. 

The Christian funeral service for Carolyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Rd. S, Freedom with Msgr. John Schuh officiating.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.  Memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn’s name to the Breast Cancer Family Foundation.
