Welcome to the memorial page for

Anton C. DeWitt

January 7, 1934 ~ June 1, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Anton C. “Tony” “Pete” De Witt, 82, of Combined Locks, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. He was born in Little Chute on January 7, 1934, son of the late Anton and Minnie (De Groot) De Witt.

Tony worked at Thilmany Paper Mill for 41 years before his retirement. He was always helping people, whether it be with a project, giving valuable advice or volunteering. Tony received a Founders Award with the St. Joe’s Food Pantry, he was Volunteer of the Year with the Salvation Army, and also volunteered with meals on wheels and the YMCA, helping with their Christmas tree sale. He faithfully donated blood with the Community Blood Center for many years.

Part of Tony’s daily routine was going to the YMCA every morning, an hour before it opened, and seeing all of his “YMCA Family.” Together they would exercise and do plenty of socializing. Tony also enjoyed working in his yard and enjoying the wildlife in it. He was known as the “Mayor” of his neighborhood because he always knew what was going on. Most importantly to Tony was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean De Witt; his children: Paul De Witt, Mark (Kay) Beresford, Kim (Robert) Sjoquist, Kevin (Wendy Van Der Geest) De Witt, and Darin (Michele) De Witt; a former daughter-in-law, Wendy De Witt; grandchildren: Sara (Derek) Van Der Horst, Robin Beresford, Jeff (fiancé Kaitlin) Beresford, Ben (girlfriend Taylor) Sjoquist, Jennifer Sjoquist, Joshua (Meghan) De Witt, Aaron De Witt, Holly (Elliot) Arft, Connor De Witt, and Ember De Witt; great grandchildren: Lucas, Taylor, Owen, Alexis, Chase, and McCoy; three sisters: Rose (Ken) Huss, Mary Brown, and Theresa Halverson; two brothers: Bill (Dorothy) De Witt and Frank De Witt; a sister-in-law, Carol De Witt; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law; a brother, Bob De Witt; and a great grandson, Wesley.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 601 S. Washington Street, Combined Locks. Visitation will be at the church on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The De Witt family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, especially the ICU nurses and Chaplain Mark for their compassionate care.
