Eckstein, William C. “Bill” William Eckstein, 57, Neenah, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010. He was born August 23, 1953, in Neenah, son of Arlin and Aimee (Rohde) Eckstein. William was employed at Neenah’s Bemis Curwood, formerly American Can, for 38 years. Bill was a member of Paynes Point Hook and Spear Club. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and playing video games with his brother. William is survived by his brothers and sisters: Anthony (Karen) Eckstein, Larsen; Lynn (Randy) Gintner, Neenah; Maryann Van Linn, Neenah and special friend Ray; Carl Eckstein, Neenah; Arlene Bokelman, Neenah and special friend Bill; Carla (Don) Weiss, Neenah; Tod Eckstein, Neenah; 15 nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews; 5 aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Roger, and brother-in-law Daniel Bokelman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., with Rev. Catherine A.K. Mode officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established. William, you were a loving brother and you will be sadly missed by your family and friends.

Downs, Barbara Mae (Meyer) Barbara Downs, 84, Menasha, more recently of the Valley VNA, Neenah, passed peacefully to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2010. Barbara, the oldest of 4 children, was born November 3, 1925, in Neenah, daughter of Herman and Pearl (Ashley) Meyer. In 1944 Barbara met and married Neal I. Downs, a farm worker in Pickett, where they lived until moving to Menasha in 1963 when Neal began his job for George Banta Co. Barbara was a remarkable person! She earned her driver’s license in 1976, and later began working as a housekeeper for Theda Clark Medical Center, which she enjoyed immensely. Barb was a very giving person, helping others first before herself. When Neal passed in 1977 she began taking care of her aunt. Barb was very involved in church committees and activities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Neenah, as well as the Mid Wisconsin Chippers. Barbara loved doing crafts of all sorts, and traveling to different places including Hawaii and California. Barbara is survived by her 7 children: Jerry (Carol) Downs, Berlin; Janice (Peter) Peterson, Neenah; David (Joyce) Downs, Neenah; Linda Jarosinski, Appleton; Diane (Gene) Schabo, Appleton; Faith (Jeffrey) Quick, Neenah; and Robert (Julie) Downs, Ohio; 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Gilbert Meyer, Menasha and Bernard Meyer, Wausau; a sister-in-law, Alice Downs, Wautoma; further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gloria Bucholtz, and countless family members including a very special Aunt Dorothy LeBouten. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah, with Rev. Robert Hays officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Barbara’s family would like to thank the Valley VNA, especially the staff of Amber Court, as well as the ThedaCare at Home Hospice staff for their compassionate care. “Our mother was very much loved and will be greatly missed.”

Birling, Harold F. Harold Birling, 86, Neenah, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010. He was born March 23, 1924, in Neenah, son of Joseph and Rose (Marquardt) Birling. Harold was a U.S. Navy veteran, having joined the Navy in 1942 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. On May 31, 1947, Harold married Carol Hanson and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together they had 3 children; 2 sons: Jeffrey (Kathy), Hortonville, who was born on Harold’s 25th birthday; Dan, Wausaukee; and a daughter Chris, Appleton. Harold was a skilled carpenter, having learned his trade from his wife’s Uncle August Selle. He was employed by Carpenters Local 955 in Appleton until his retirement. Harold then fulfilled a dream by building his own retirement home in Wausaukee. He loved the outdoors and watching the deer in their backyard, feeding the birds, going camping with his grandchildren, hunting, and fishing. Harold was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neenah. Harold is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his 3 children; grandchildren who referred to him as “Grampa Bunka”: Billie Jo (Jake) Gross, Addie (Ryan) Mahoney, Jessica (Andrew) Anson, Heidi Delorey, Amber (Matt) Molle, Danielle Lewis, Nathan (Iva) Delorey, and Sean Delorey; “Great Grans”: Olivia and Emily Gross, Jack Grafmeier, Iylee Mahoney, Madeline, Carson, and Evelyn Molle, and Joshua Delorey; further survived by a brother, Joe (Shirley) Birling; a sister, Janet Hall; several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Delores and Elaine. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah, with Rev. Stephen Dietzler officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center in Marshfield, in hope that someone else will get a second chance at life as Harold did. Harold’s family would like to thank Dr. Goldmann and the staff at Marshfield Clinic for treating Harold and allowing him 20 more years to enjoy his home in the north, his family, and his nightly bowl of ice cream! They would also like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Kilkenny Cottage, as well as Heartland Hospice, for their excellent care in Harold’s final month. “Dad/Grandpa: We will dearly miss your sense of humor, but you gave us plenty of material over the years to recall and laugh at for a long time.”

Andrews, Myron E. Myron Andrews, 80, Neenah, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was born September 1, 1929, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, son of Myron and Clara (Frick) Andrews. Myron married Barbara J. Donahue September 8, 1951, at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Pasadena, California. He was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, receiving his B.S. in chemistry. He continued his studies in Chemistry while working Cal's Radiation Lab. He then worked as a chemist for a paper company in the San Francisco area before taking a job with Menasha Corporation in North Bend, Oregon, in 1960. Myron worked for Menasha Corporation for the rest of his career, first as a chemist in Oregon, a data processor in Anaheim, California, and finally as the Assistant Manager of Management Information Systems in Neenah Wisconsin. Myron was keenly interested in learning and went on to get his masters degree in business and finance at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. Myron continued post graduate studies in business and finance for the rest of his life. He was an avid reader, and contributed to many charitable organizations, including the alumni program at U.C. Berkeley. Myron is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter and 2 sons: Pamela J. Buchannan, Sierra Vista, AZ; Todd (Janice) Andrews, Eau Claire; Timothy (Nancy) Andrews, Flagstaff, AZ; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Patricia G. (Myron) Jarman and Lee Deaton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and other relatives. In accordance with Myron’s wishes a private family service will be held. Myron’s family wishes to thank Theda Care at Home Hospice and Cherry Meadows Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Stilp, Ann Ann Stilp, 88, Appleton, formerly of Neenah, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at The Heritage, Appleton. She was born November 4, 1921, in Plainfield, New Jersey, daughter of Antonio and Anna (Manhattan) Guerrini. Ann married John P. Stilp, Sr., February 15, 1945, and he preceded her in death February 6, 2004. She was employed as a registered nurse at Theda Clark Hospital for over 40 years prior to her retirement. She was a U. S. Army Air Corp veteran having served as a nurse during World War II. Ann and John traveled to John’s reunions with the 57th Bomb Wing regularly to all parts of the world; they enjoyed traveling. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Menasha. Mrs. Stilp is survived by her children: Susan Kraus, Tustin, CA; John P. (Pam) Stilp, Jr., Milwakuee; Mary Ann (Mark) Streufert, Neenah; Cathy (Dan) McClone, Menasha; Joseph (Bonnie) Stilp, Shiocton; Jeffrey Stilp, Neenah and Jean (Dr. Mark) Bognar, Rhinelander; 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Ann was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Joseph Guerrini. The Mass of Resurrection for Ann will be held at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 324 Nicolet Blvd, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Radetski officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the mass. A memorial has been established. “Well done my good and faithful servant. Come share your Master's joy.”

Coenen, Duane N. Duane Coenen, 82, Neenah, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1928 in Neenah, Wisconsin, son of the late Norbert and Myrtle Paulson Coenen. Duane graduated from Neenah High School in 1946. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Armored Division. On May 2, 1953, he was united in marriage to Donna Beaudo and celebrated 57 years. Along with his father and brother, Duane owned and operated Checker Moving & Storage and Checker Warehousing from 1948 until 1999. Following the sale of the business, Duane enjoyed driving for Ryder. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Neenah. Duane belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Boys Brigade, and was a volunteer on the maintenance committee for St. Margaret Mary and Habitat for Humanity. Duane will be remembered for his kindness and gentle ways. He was a great husband, father, grandfather. He was a provider, mentor, had a great zest for life and treasured spending time with his family. Duane enjoyed skiing, hunting, attending Green Bay Packer games, bowling, traveling, the cottage and riding his John Deere lawn mower. Survivors include his wife, Donna; children: Mary (Don) Schaning, Sheboygan, WI, their children, Brian and Stephanie; Paul (Sue) Coenen, Neenah, their children, Shawn and Erin; Tom (Dawn) Coenen, Neenah, their children, Kyle and Christa; Karen (Steve) Beckerleg, Verona, WI, their children, Adam and Anna; Laura Ryan, Manitou Springs, CO; Michael (Jill) Coenen, Neenah; Mark (Linda) Coenen, Neenah, and daughter Breana. He is further survived by his brother, Jim (Bev) Coenen, Neenah; sister-in-law, Nelda Kolosso, Appleton, WI; nieces & nephews, Jim and Andy Kolosso, Cathy Pearson, Steve and David Coenen He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, James Kolosso Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Peeters, JoAnn M. JoAnn Peeters, 88, Neenah, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, following a short illness surrounded by her family at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was born November 17, 1921, in Kimberly, daughter of George and Hattie (VanGrinsven) Vanden Heuvel. JoAnn married Gerald Peeters, March 21, 1946, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly and he preceded her in death May 16, 2010. She was employed in the Cafeteria at St. Margaret Mary School for several years and later at Zwickers Knitting Mill. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and a former member of the Catholic Daughters and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Mrs. Peeters is survived by her children: Tim (Claire) Peeters, Neenah; Patti (Rich) Chronquist, Marshfield; Becky (John) Arpin, Neenah; Jayne (Hal Moorehead) Peeters, Big Horn, Wyoming; Steve (Gretchen) Peeters, Orlando, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; three sisters and a brother: Ellen Gloudemans, Kaukauna; Carolyn Simon, Appleton; Agnes (Peter) Peeters, Kalamazoo, Michigan and Norbert (Bernice) Vanden Heuvel, Madison; several in-laws, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Swaab, Laurence F. Laurence Swaab, 64, Neenah, died unexpectedly in Clear Lake, Iowa, Saturday, August 14, 2010. He was born July 19, 1946, in Duluth, Minnesota, son of Francis and Evelyn (Cummings) Swaab. Laurence grew up in Superior, graduated from Cathedral High School in 1964, and attended UW-Superior. On August 17, 1968 Laurence married Patricia Molter, and she preceded him in death January 27, 1998. Laurence worked for 25 years as a switchman/brakeman for the Soo Line Railroad. In 1975, while working for the railroad, he began a career in property management. In 1989 Laurence joined United Financial Group, Inc. as the President of the Property Management Division in Appleton. On March 24, 2001, Laurence married Julianne Hein. He was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard as well as a member of Appleton Alliance Church. Laurence was always willing to fill a need even before being asked. Laurence is survived by his wife, Julianne; children: Julie (Travis) Chaney, Megan Swaab, DVM, Travis (Crystal) Hein and Gregory (Jackie) Hein; 6 grandchildren: Alexander Belling, Samuel Belling, Emmaline Belling, Hannah Chaney, Grant Belling, and Abigail Hein; a sister, Bernardine Kolstad; brothers: Paul (Susan) Swaab, James (Joan) Swaab, David Swaab; 2 sisters-in-law: Sandra Swaab and Victoria (Jerry) Velleville; 2 brothers-in-law: Steven (Diane) Schmudluch and Scott (Julie) Schmudluch; mother-in-law, Wilma Schmudluch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. Matthias, Jeanette L. Jeanette Matthias, 86, Appleton, formerly of Neenah, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton. She was born July 5, 1924 in Weyauwega, daughter of John and Rosalie (Mellen) Magdanz. Jeanette married Leonard E. Matthias June 1, 1946 and he preceded her in death August 1, 2004. Jeannette was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah. She was also a member and former president of the Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. Jeanette and her husband Leonard founded the Neenah Dairy Queen in 1946, which they owned and operated until they sold it to Archie Reiser in 1966. Mrs. Matthias was also employed at Landers Office Products until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed embroidery and cross stitching. Jeanette loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jeanette is survived by her sons: Terry (Betty) Matthias, Wauwatosa; Steve (Chris) Matthias, Sherwood; grandchildren: Emily (William) Ryan, Fargo, North Dakota; Brooke (James) Steffanus, Menasha; step-grandchildren: Traci Pepke, Kelly (Tim) Logan, both of Wauwatosa; great grandchildren: Owen and Liam Ryan; a great grandson on the way; a step-great grandchild, Chloe Pepke, Wauwatosa; sister, Verna Harris, Ft. Collins, Colorado; sister-in-law, Lucille Kadolph, Loyal. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Hillis Kadolph. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with Rev. Tony McKenzie officiating. Skenandore, Jacqueline Lee Jacqueline Skenandore, 69, Menasha, died peacefully surrounded by her family Monday, August 2, 2010. She was born May 29, 1941, in Neenah, daughter of Robert and Helen (Boness) Cook. Jacqueline married Nelson Skenandore and he preceded her in death in 1974. Jacqueline was employed for many years at Glatfelters until her retirement. She enjoyed gambling, especially lottery tickets, scratch offs and the slot machines. Jacqueline had a big heart and enjoyed helping others. She loved her family. Jacqueline is survived by her mother, Helen Cook; 3 sons: Mark (Paula) Skenandore, Menasha; Scott Skenandore, Neenah; John (Susan) Skenandore, Wild Rose; 7 grandchildren: Cory (Trish) Skenandore, Ryan Skenandore and fiancé Ashley, Nicole (Arnesto) Molando, Evan Skenandore, Mandie Skenandore, Jeremy Skenandore, Sky Skenandore; 3 great grandchildren: Lilly Skenandore, Karlina and Andreus Molando; 2 sisters and a brother: Jeannette (Melvin) Lindsey, Menasha; Josephine Schuman, Neenah; Russell (Judy) Cook, Kaukauna; a brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. Hintz, Raymond Fredrick Raymond Hintz, 84, Oshkosh, died Monday, August 2, 2010, at Theda Clark Medical Center. He was born January 16, 1926, the son of Edmund and Alma Rose (Bonnin) Hintz. Raymond married Genevieve Fronczak, November 6, 1948 and she preceded him in death May 25, 1995. He was employed at the Neenah Foundry Company for 27 years prior to his retirement in 1991. He and his friends from the Foundry met regularly for breakfast. He was an M. P. in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a former member of the VFW. Raymond loved hunting and fishing. Raymond is survived by his children: Rose Keller, Wild Rose and Dianna (George) Gregory, Oshkosh; four grandchildren: Justin Keller, Tom (Stacy) Gregory, Vickie (Max) Mejia and Jacky Boettcher; great grandchildren: Gage Keller, J.T. and Charlie Mejia, Hannah and Maelyn Gregory, Cheyenne Glasheen and Nicolas Boettcher; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hintz was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edmund; his sisters: Mary, Margaret and Caroline. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 6, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah with Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Interment will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 P.M. Brennand, Charleyne J. “Sam” Charleyne Brennand, Appleton, entered into the loving arms of her Savior Sunday, August 1, 2010. She was born May 6, 1931, in Brillion, daughter of Joseph and Nell (Dahlman) Schwaller. Sam was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton. She was employed as an accountant for Kimberly Clark, Neenah, for many years. Sam enjoyed gardening and loved sharing her harvest with others. She also enjoyed caring for other people; she was a very compassionate person. Sam is survived by 2 sisters: Bette Lou Fairfield and Maryann Schwaller; a special nephew and niece, Gregg and Marsha Fairfield; her adopted daughter, Linda Kryszak; numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Bob and Roger Schwaller, and a sister, Dorothy Larson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass. A memorial has been established for St. Pius X Parish. Willmington, Barbara M. “Barb” Barbara Willmington, 77, Neenah, died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1933, in Kenosha, daughter of Joseph Alexander and Evelyn Genevieve (Anderson) Clish. Barbara was an accomplished artist who painted in watercolor and oil along with making custom jewelry and Christmas ornaments. Early in her career, she taught art and kindergarten classes in Illinois. Later, she worked at Neenah High School in the Audio Visual Department. Barbara volunteered at the Bergstrom-Mahler Art Museum, played a wicked game of bridge, and was notorious for cooking up a great batch of spaghetti. Barbara is survived by her daughter Laurie (Mick) Loughrin, Boulder, Colorado, her son Ross (Gerri Moeller) Willmington, Appleton, a granddaughter, Felicia Willmington, and other relatives. She is also survived by many friends, including Mary Kerr, Norma Anderson, Sharon and Doug Strand, the “fat ladies”, numerous bridge club combatants, and so many more. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home with Rev. Bertschausen officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Barbara’s name to support the local art community.

Besch, Lorraine J. Lorraine Besch, 85, Appleton, went to be with her Lord Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Peabody Birch Cottage, Appleton. She was born August 19, 1924, in Wausau, daughter of Everette and (Emma Mailahn) Bethe. Lorraine married Wayne Besch and he preceded her in death October 15, 2003. Lorraine is survived by her 3 daughters: Cheryl (Charles) Ulrich, Appleton; Karen (David) Lucey, Cross Plains; Janice Besch, Spokane, WA; 4 grandchildren: Hilary, Lindsey, Jaime and Jennifer; a great grandson, Jake Henry. Galuska, Edna Josephine Edna Galuska, 88, Neenah, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Valley VNA Assisted Living, Neenah. She was born June 30, 1922, in Aniwa, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Strauss) Loos. Edna married Edward Galuska, October 23, 1948, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, Antigo and he preceded her in death July 1, 2009. She taught school in Marathon County, Oostburg, Neenah and 20 years at St. Mary Catholic Grade School in Menasha. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah, sang in both their regular choir and funeral choir and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a volunteer at Vallhaven Care Center, Coolidge School and for the Red Cross Blood Bank. Edna is survived by her children: Daniel, Milwaukee; William (Pamela), Kansas City, MO; Jean (James) Hartnett, Madison; her grandchildren: Alex, Katie and Steven Hartnett; a sister, Anita (Michael) Jankowski, Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary (Lee) Lauderback; her parents; five brothers: Frank, Matt, Leo, Henry and Evan; four sisters: Frieda (Ed) Lang, Lorina (Robert) Steckbauer, Mary (Emil) Fisher and Irene (Ray) Giese. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 10, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah with Father Michael L. Ingold officiating. Goff, Edwin E. Edwin Goff, 64, Omro, died Friday, July 2, 2010, at Vallhaven Care Center, Neenah. Edwin was born January 19, 1946, in Baraboo, son of Elsworth and Elsie (Kopelke) Goff. He married the love of his life, Diana Gage on June 8, 1985, and recently they celebrated 25 years of marriage. Edwin was employed as a chef at several supper clubs throughout the years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, studying the Bible, and serving as an ordained minister in his spare time. Edwin also enjoyed telling jokes; he had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam and Korea as a cook. Edwin is survived by his wife, Diana; daughters, Alliene (Chris) Miletich and Tricia (Brian) Stalker; 6 grandchildren: Katie, Steven, Lance, Seth, Sakora, and Brandy; a mother-in-law, Patricia Gage. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his only son, Jason Burton, and a brother, Fred Goff. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, Neenah. Friberg, Stella M. Stella Friberg, 91, Neenah, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Cherry Meadows Hospice following a short illness. She was born April 24, 1919, in Maywood, IL, daughter of August and Maria (Celli) Cortopassi. Stella married Erling Friberg, February 14, 1942, in Crown Point, IN and he preceded her in death May 29, 2001. She was employed at the Neenah Foundry Company prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. Mrs. Friberg is survived by a daughter, Laura Friberg, Kihei, Hawaii; a son, Myron (Leo Anne) Friberg, Rock Island, IL; two grandchildren: Kenneth (Barbara) Friberg and Neil Friberg, both of Rock Island; 2 great grandchildren: Thomas and Elizabeth Friberg; five nieces and five nephews. Stella was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Edward. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Carpenter, Lyle Frank Lyle Carpenter, 82, Neenah, died Friday, June 18, 2010. He was born November 6, 1927, in Spring Green, WI, son of Benjamin and Dorothy (Young) Carpenter. He married Mary Louise Nagy and she preceded him in death in January 1982. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served 21 years in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Hawley Dieckhoff Post #33, Neenah. Lyle is survived by a good friend of over 30 years, Mary Erdahl, her son, Chris (Jodi) Erdahl and their daughter, Chloe and grandpa’s girl, Emily Busch; three children: Judith (Donald) Welle, Oregon; Michelle (Willard) Caird, State of Washington and Randall (DeAnna) Carpenter, Oregon; 5 granddaughters; a brother Paul (Betty) Carpenter, Plain, WI and a sister, Carol Olson. Lyle was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Dean Olson. In accordance with Lyle’s wishes, no services will be held. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.

Dombeck, John John Dombeck, 95, Menasha, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born October 31, 1914, in Menasha, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Smolinski) Dombeck. He married Louise Liebhauser October 30, 1943 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA and she preceded him in death in 1991. John will be sadly missed by his daughters: Peggy (Tom) DeBraal and Barb (Don) Carpenter and a son, Jack (Nancy) Dombeck. Grandchildren: Sara (John) Anderson, J.C. (Tanya) DeBraal, Mark DeBraal, Amy Carpenter, Adam (Meagan) Carpenter, Brooke (John) Hintze, Lindsay (Steve) Aykens, Abby Dombeck and Shelley Dombeck. Great grandchildren: Tyler and Emilie Anderson, Nicholas and Brandon DeBraal, and Jack and Charlie Aykens; special friend, Eve Wilms; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Koslowski and Margaret Woulf; many nieces and nephews. John was also preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Rosalie Chausse, Frances Wassenberg, Cecile Lee, Lucille Merbs, Estelle Letter and infant brothers: Kasmir and Ludwig. John was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Atlantic. He retired from Menasha Corp. in 1977 after 47 years. John was a charter member of the National Association of Purchasing Management-Fox Valley, organized in 1966. He was a member of the Neenah Menasha Elks Lodge #676 and Third Degree Knights of Columbus #1838. He was a past treasurer of the Falcons Athletic Association and a past member of the Menasha Senior Center Planning Committee and Menasha Committee on Aging. John was involved in volunteer work at Theda Clark, St. Joe’s Food Pantry and Affinity. He enjoyed riding his bike, going to the “Y” every morning and traveling. He also enjoyed dancing to the “big band” music and playing cards with his Tuesday night poker buddies. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Father Paul Radetski officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Menasha. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the mass. An Elks service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Golden, Raymond W. Raymond Golden, 75, Neenah, entered eternal life on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, with his family by his bedside. He was born February 25, 1935, in Kaukauna, to the late Edward F. and Genevieve C. (Summers) Golden. He married Mary Jacquelyn “Jackie” Van Den Heuvel in Little Chute and she preceded him in death April 21, 1991. He married Mildred J. (Gauerke) Hameister, January 8, 1994, in New London. In 1953, Ray graduated from Kaukauna High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served from April 1954 to April 1957, in the military police and heavy artillery. He spent one year at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, near the North Pole. He also spent time in the desert southwest: Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. After his discharge he received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Fox Valley Technical School in 1959. He was employed at Menasha Corporation as a corporate accountant for over 30 years. He retired in March 1990, to stay at home and care for his wife, Jackie, who had terminal cancer. Ray had a home accounting business for a number of years. He was proud to have been a member of the National Association of accountants for many years. Ray also was a member of the American Legion Hawley Dieckhoff Post #33, Neenah. Ray also worked for outside security contractors at Appleton Papers for 15 years. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. Worship and education were very strong priorities in his life. Ray was very proud of his Irish Heritage. His favorite Gaelic Blessing was “May the road rise to meet you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face: The rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand.” Ray is survived by his wife, Mildred “Millie” and two sons: Patrick (Sue) Golden and David (Cindy) Golden; two daughters: Joan Golden and Susan (Thomas) Witkovich; a step-son, Lloyd Hameister; step-daughters: Susan (Mark) Bayerle and Jayne McCormick; grandchildren: Anthony and Christopher Nowak, Chase and Chelsea Golden, Claire and Rober Witikovich; step-grandchildren: Eric Hameister, Sarah Hameister (Zac) Schendel and Weston and Thorton McCormick; great-grandchldren: Andrew and Chelsea Hameister; a sister, Mary Jean (Peter) Fulcer; brothers: Robert Golden, Donald (Jean) Golden and Thomas (Jane) Golden; sisters-in-law: Eleanore (Gene) Schwaller and Ione (Paul) Gillen, Melda (Norman) Bang, Lois (Gerry) Edinger and Elizabeth Gauerke; brothers-in-law: Earl (Joann) Gauerke and Franklin (Patricia) Gauerke; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Choronzy, Nicholas “Nick” Nicholas Choronzy, 91, Neenah, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Cherry Meadows Hospice following a short illness. Nick was born August 19, 1918, in Calumet, Michigan, the son of Nicholas and Nettie (Pikkula) Choronzy. The family moved to Ironwood, MI where Nick spent his younger years. For over 40 years he was employed by Kimberly Clark as a shipping clerk. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, the VFW, Neenah Memorial Post #10893 and the 313th Infantry Division Association. He loved bowling, the Packers and, in the early 50’s, the Milwaukee Braves. He was a faithful Post Crescent reader, perusing every page cover to cover. Nick liked listening and dancing to old-time music. Saturday morning radio polka shows filled the house as he sometimes danced around the kitchen (with a broom as a partner when he was in a frivolous mood). Nick had a unique dry sense of humor, coming up with quips that drew chuckles from the listener. Nick was a U.S. army veteran attaining the rank of sergeant. He served in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded two purple hearts, Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star and other citations. Nick is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Janice, a sister, Mary (Leonard) Stanczak, Menasha, a brother-in-law, James Oliver, Ironwood, MI; a sister-in-law, Signe Choronzy, Ironwood, MI: a brother-in-law, David (Beverley) Sadoski, Anchorage, AK. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Nick was preceded in death by his parents, a son, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 620 Division Street with Rev. Michael L. Ingold officiating. Drechsel, Mykle James Mykle Drechsel, 21, Neenah, passed away unexpectedly June 15, 2010, leaving a hole in our hearts. His smile, laughter and his big hugs will carry through in all of those whom he loved. Mykle was taken away from us much too swiftly and before we were ready. Not nearly enough time was given to us to enjoy his smile. He loved to admire cars and motorcycles. He always had your back and loved to tell stories about it. He thrived in his job at Re-Union Station because it kept him in the heart of his family. He was born January 8, 1912, in Menasha, son of John and Catherine (Steibel) Toennessen. Biff married Charlotte Kolasinsky, October 6, 1945, in Menasha. He was employed with the Menasha School System prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. Maurice is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his children: Norita (John) Reuter, Mary (Peter) Krautkramer and John (Valerie) Toennessen; seven grandchildren: Jack (Lisa) Reuter, Bill (Susan) Reuter, Rachel (Ben) Rausch, Peter (Bridget) Krautkramer, Rebecca Toennessen, Stacey (Samuel) Darling and Sarah Toennessen; 14 great grandchildren. Johann, Lucile H. Lucile Johann, 80, Neenah, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born June 16, 1929, in Appleton, daughter of Alex and Caroline (Patsch) Hopfensberger. Lucile married Orville J. Johann July 28, 1945. Lucile was an active 37 year member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, Neenah. She loved being a part of St. Gabriel parish, where she was a communion distributor, volunteer for the school hot lunch programs along with visiting and distributing communion to those in the nursing homes; which was dear to her heart. She also was the church picnic saddle bag chairperson, and baked countless pies and cookies for bake sales. She was well known for her bakery, and her cookies and pies were always the first sold at bake sales. Lucile was a true and faithful servant of the Lord. She had a deep faith and never questioned the difficult times, but rather trusted in God’s plan. She lived her faith by example. She was happiest when she was bringing joy to others. Lucile was a charter member of the Larsen-Winchester Lioness Club, serving as secretary from 1987 to 2010. Through the Lioness Club, she was able to help support the needs of the entire community. Lucile is survived by her husband, Orville; 2 foster children: Pat Ermis, Ed L. Mordell, Daniel J. Daniel Mordell, 82, Neenah, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at home with his family by his side. He was born July 8, 1927, in Batavia, N.Y., son of John and Mary (Helminski) Mordell. When Daniel was 12, his father passed away and he maintained his school work in the mornings and worked in a factory in the afternoons to support his family. Daniel married Mary Cechini, August 2, 1952, in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a 1954 graduate of the University of Buffalo. He received scholarships and graduated as a mechanical engineer employed by Bell Aircraft. Daniel later joined GE where he worked on the prototype Turbine-Electric Locomotive and continued his education, receiving his Masters degree. Following his career at GE, Dan was employed by Singer-Link Flight Simulation, where he retired in 1990. Daniel was very active with historical research relating to railroading and the Erie Canal. He was a published map maker, an avid tour guide and mentor. He was very generous to Native American Children’s Schools. His family was very important to him especially his grandchildren and in his last months of life, thoroughly enjoyed James baking cookies and treats for him. Daniel is survived by his wife, Mary; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Renee Mordell, Neenah; grandchildren: James and Marina Mordell; a brother, Edward Mordell, Texas and a sister, Rita Zawicki, Batavia, N.Y He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Angela. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah. Schroeder (Heinz), Diana M. Diana Schroeder, 74, Neenah, died at her home on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 21, 1935, in Neenah, daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Heidger) Heinz. Diana married Arlen Schroeder on September 10, 1955 in Neenah. Diana was employed at Marathon and American Company in Menasha from 1953 to 1961. She then stayed home to raise her children. She loved birds, plants, going on walks and gambling. Diana is survived by her husband, Arlen; 2 daughters: Mary (Brian) Beiser, Cindy (Robert) Butke; a son, Eric (Tina) Schroeder all of Neenah; 7 grandchildren: Andy (Rachel), Paul and Alex Beiser; Angela and Spencer Butke; Kierstin and Carson Schroeder; 4 brothers: Edward “Curly”, Gene “Bob”, Kaukauna; Charles (Grace), Menasha; Ronald (Joan) Heinz, Nebraska; sister-in-law Norma Heinz, Menasha and brother-in-law Donald “Pete” Peterson, Madison. Becker, Bruce R. Bruce Becker, age 69, Appleton, was received into God’s glory on Sunday, May 30, 2010, surrounded by his family at Theda Clark Medical Center after complications from a stroke. Bruce was born on October 23, 1940, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the oldest son of Raymond and Emma (Paholke) Becker. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Menasha, where he served as an elder. Bruce was involved in many volunteer activities over the years, most notably Prison Ministry. Bruce attended Trinity Lutheran School in Menasha and graduated from Menasha High School in 1959. Bruce had several employments, retiring from the Appleton Post Crescent after more than 30 years of service. He was also employed at Curwood and currently had a USA Today paper route. Bruce is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Judith Becker; beloved children: Robyn (Jeff) Goetzman, Jill (Matt) Chaplock; grandchildren: Courtney and Kayla Goetzman; Monica and Marley Chaplock; sister, Barbara (Tom) Kester; brother, Mark (Jeanne) Becker; his aunt, Bonnie Kobussen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert. Funeral services for Bruce will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad St., Menasha, with Rev. Steven Billings officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad St. and from 9:00 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service. Pavlak, Dorothy L. Dorothy Pavlak, 64, Neenah, died unexpectedly Friday, May 28, 2010, at her home. She was also known as Dode or Toad by her family and friends. She was born June 20, 1945, in Rice Lake, daughter of Leo and Wanda (Patraw) McLeod. She retired from Atlas Tag, Neenah after 41 years. Zimmerman Nancy M. Nancy Margaret Zimmerman (nee) Garry, 71, of Neenah, Wisconsin passed on to her eternal reward Thursday May 27, 2010, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in the presence of family and friends. Nancy was born October 2, 1938, in Norfolk, Nebraska. She was the middle of three girls born to Edward Paul Garry and Evalyn Mae (Williams). She was raised in Nebraska and Iowa, and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Charles City, Iowa in 1956. She then went on to attend the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1960. Nancy’s nursing career took her to New York and then to Minnesota where she met Dr. Delano Zimmerman in the emergency room at Hennepin Co. General Hospital. They married August 13, 1966, at Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City and settled in Neenah, Wisconsin where they began their family. They had three children, Kate M. (Lee) Lennard of Houston TX, Joseph G. (Caryn Davi) Zimmerman of New York, NY, and Nick E. (Jodi) Zimmerman of Rockford, IL. The family then moved to Springfield, IL for Del’s work. In 1992, Nancy and Del returned to Neenah for retirement on Lake Winnebago. Nancy’s recent years were spent traveling, volunteering and working a limited schedule as a long-term care nurse. Her favorite volunteer position was with Sr. Diane and Ms. Joan Bartman at St. Margaret Mary Parish. She is survived by her three children and seven grandchildren, Scott, Adam, Brian and Michael Lennard and Delaney, Amir, and Libby Zimmerman, her sister Evalyn Mae “Bimmy” (Bill) Currie, eight beloved siblings on Del’s side and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, her sister Mary (Garry) Kyle, her nephew Michael Mueller and her sisterinlaw,YoshikoZimmerman. The family would like to thank Nancy’s dear friend Irene Schaper, Del’s siblings and spouses, as well as all of the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice Facility. Nancy has made an anatomical gift to the University of Wisconsin, Department of Anatomy. The family welcomes visitors on Thursday June 3, 2010, from 4-7:30p.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Joelazarus (Joel) N. Williams Of Neenah, age 19 died accidentally Sunday, May 23, 2010 in Waupaca.Joel was born December 3, 1990 in Appleton, the son of Robert Williams Jr and Joanne (Wendt) Williams. Joel attended Weyauwega-Fremont High School and Neenah High. He graduated in 2009. While in school, Joel participated in the wrestling program winning many awards. Joel worked for Tom’s Drive-In on CB. Joel and his brother, Dan, played softball for the company team. After graduation Joel took up power lifting, placing 1st and 2nd often. Joel is survived by his mother, 2 brothers; Robert (Ashley) and Daniel (Aubrey), 1 half brother; Tremaine, 2 half sisters; Emily and Rosalie, 1 nephew; Deiondre, 1 niece; Shayd, his father, his paternal grandmother; Willie Mae Williams, special friends; Brittany Beschta and Jami Vogley. Joel is further survived by a large extended family; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward & Grace Wendt, his paternal grandfather Raymond Williams and his uncle John Williams. Kox, Joseph J. “Joe” Joseph Kox, 53, Town of Menasha, died unexpectedly Monday, May 17, 2010 at his home. He was born March 14, 1957, in Green Bay, son of Norbert and Anna Mae (Choate) Kox. Joe married Patricia Kabacinski August 10, 1984, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Green Bay. He was employed by Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, and also was a self-employed Accountant and Musician. Joe was a member of the Fox Valley Home Brew Association; he was an avid home brewer. Joe is survived by his wife, Patt; children: David Kox, Antone (special friend Stacy Young) Kox, Andrew Kox, bonus son, Keith (Jenny) Hussin; a sister, Caroline (Don) Deitrich; brothers: Norbert Kox, Frank Kox, Ken (Sherri) Kox; sisters-in-law: Kay Kox, Deb Kabacinski, Lynn (Tom) Nuthals, Mary (Jack) Johnson, Margaret (Dave) Grimmer; a brother-in-law, Gary Kabacinski; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gajewski, George G. George Gajewski, 90, Menasha, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 17, 2010. He was born October 10, 1919, in Menasha, son of the late John and Helen (Kolasinski) Gajewski. George was a graduate of Menasha High School in 1936. He married Marilyn (Carow) Gajewski December 25, 1943 and enjoyed 66 wonderful years with her. George was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WWII where he served as a Gunners Mate on the U.S.S. New York. He also had a 27 year career with Bergstrom/PH Glatfelter Paper Company. George greatly enjoyed helping run his wife’s gift shop upon his retirement. George was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Neenah. He will be greatly missed by his family and the many people who knew his sense of humor, determination, and strength of spirit. George is survived by his four children: Georgia Westenberger, Geoffrey (Jeanine), Gregory (Janet), Grayson (Rose); seven loving grandchildren: Josh (Jenny) Westenberger, Soren (Kristy) Gajewski, Ambre Neuser-Gajewski, Deedra (David) Hallmark, Morgan (Greg) Salter, Elaine (Chad) Sheveland, Bethany Gajewski; six wonderful great grandchildren; a brother, Henry (Annacile) Gajewski. In addition to George’s parents he was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn, on April 11, 2010; brothers: Edward and Joseph; a sister, Marie; a son-in-law, James Westenberger. Peeters, Gerald F. “Jerry” Gerald Peeters, 88, Neenah, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1921, in Little Chute, son of Richard and Anne (Weyenberg) Peeters. Jerry married JoAnn M. Vanden Heuvel March 21, 1946, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving from 1940 until 1947 as a Warrant Officer in the Supply Corps. Jerry was in Manila Bay at the start of WWII and spent 6 years during the war in the Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of the Henry Ford School while in the service. Jerry was employed for 21 years in the accounting department at American Can. He was also employed at Menasha Corporation for 18 years until his retirement in 1984. Jerry was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, where he formerly served as secretary/treasurer. He was also the accountant for St. Margaret Cemetery. Jerry coached basketball at St. Margaret Mary School and was a former president of the Neenah-Menasha Little League. He was a redcoat volunteer for 11 years at Theda Clark Medical Center along with volunteering 17 years preparing taxes for the low income elderly. Jerry was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Jerry was totally dedicated to his loving family, country, community and church. Jerry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; 5 children: Tim (Claire) Peeters, Neenah; Patti (Rich) Chronquist, Marshfield; Becky (John) Arpin, Neenah; Jayne (Hal Moorehead) Peeters, Big Horn, Wyoming; Steve (Gretchen) Peeters, Orlando, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; a sister, Doris Heiss, Appleton; 2 brothers: James (Ida) Peeters, Little Chute; Peter (Agnes) Peeters, Kalamazoo, Michigan; several in-laws; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Schultz, Robert A. Sr. "Bob" Robert Schultz, 80, Oshkosh, died unexpectedly Friday, May 14, 2010. He was born March 13, 1930, in Neenah son of Arthur and Clare (Haertl) Schultz. Bob married Patricia E. Meier June 19, 1954, in Menasha. Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah. He was employed at Twin Disc, Inc., Racine, in Human Resources for over 30 years until his retirement. Bob was an active member of the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh Learning in Retirement. He enjoyed sailing, fishing, woodworking, the camaraderie of hunting, ham radio - and most importantly, his family. Bob is survived lovingly by his wife of 56 years, Pat; three sons: Bob (Jane) Schultz, Jr. in Hartford; Tim (Kim) Schultz in Oconomowoc; Jay (Cheryl) Schultz in Racine; six grandchildren: Matt and Emily Schultz; Andrew, Karly and Conner Schultz; Patrick Schultz in New Berlin; in-laws: Gordon Meier in Menasha; Barbara (Larry) Nowak in Shawano; Paul (Pat) Meier in Menasha; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. Brazee, Arthur H. “Art” Arthur Brazee, 83, Neenah, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010, at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home, King. He was born April 20, 1927, in Omro, son of Harvey and Lorraine (Gehrke) Brazee. Art spent his early life working on his family’s farm. In 1944, like many of his generation, he quit high school to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war he worked as an auto mechanic at various auto dealerships in Neenah and Menasha. On March 31, 1951, he married Joan F. Haufe. During the 1950s and 60s Art owned and operated Skelly Service Stations. In the late 1960s he went into the retail business opening Neenah Gambles hardware store. Shortly after he switched to the Ace Hardware franchise. Art worked the hardware store with his sons until Alzheimer’s forced him to retire. Art was an active member of the Neenah Eagles for over 30 years serving as president and on the board of trustees. He was also a member of the Lenz-Gazecki American Legion Post #152, Menasha for 65 years. Art enjoyed the simple things in life, mowing the lawn, shoveling snow, always staying active. He had one great passion though, bowling. Art loved to bowl. Over the years he bowled in many leagues in the Twin Cities, making many friends and collecting lasting memories. Grandma Jose would also like to thank her grandson Dallas for the special care he gave grandpa before he went into the home. Viola L. Smith Wauwatosa, WI Viola L. Smith, (nee Zastrow) passed peacefully to eternal life on May 7, 2010, age 86, after a lengthy journey with Alzheimer’s. The endless memories she created will sustain us for a lifetime. Viola is survived by her beloved husband, Clarence, of 67 years; her daughter, Charlotte (William) Berndt, Sussex, WI; her sons, Dennis (Donna) Smith, Harrisburg, NC; Michael (Arlene) Smith, Menasha, WI and Gary (Deborah) Smith, Neenah, WI; six grandchildren, Kevin (Susan Monte) Smith, Hartford, WI; Shelly (Steve) Zinda, Waukesha, WI; Lori (Pat Hosch) Wessel, Dousman, WI; Mark (Rachel) Smith, Eagle, WI; Michelle (Paul) Barry, West Bend, WI and Brian Smith, Menasha, WI; seven great-grandchildren Jake and Cole Zinda; Katie and Alex Wessel; Carson Smith; Paul Jr. and Samantha Barry; sisters Lorraine Graf and Delores Gross; brothers, Harold Zastrow and Kenneth (Pat) Zastrow. Hackstock, Donald R. Donald Hackstock, 81, Neenah, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Vallhaven Care Center, Neenah. Don was born August 21, 1928, son of George and Malinda (Julius) Hackstock. He married Phyllis Hardtke April 14, 1952, in Oshkosh, and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2007. Don retired from the Neenah Fire Department after many years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Don was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah. Don is survived by his daughters: Donna (William) Schiefelbein, Sammamish, WA, and Rhonda Hackstock, Neenah; four grandchildren: Amanda, Sophie, Spencer and Isabella; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Hardtke, Menasha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Palmbach, Ruth Lorraine Herrick RN Ruth Palmbach, 92, Neenah, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Ruth was the daughter of Warren and Fredricka (Krablean) Herrick. She was born August 31, 1917, at Theda Clark Hospital at 7 AM; her mother always said the paper mill whistles were blowing. Ruth grew up on Doty Island’s Third Street in Neenah, living close to the hospital and the Doty Island Park. Ruth remembered when the park was completed and opened for sporting events. She attended Roosevelt Elementary School with two years of kindergarten and then first grade at the new school. Early on, Ruth excelled in school and skipped seventh grade. She attended Neenah High School and graduated in 1934 where she was the first girl cheerleader. Since she was young Ruth always aspired to be a nurse, so that is what she set out to do. When she reached the required age of 18 she entered the Theda Clark School of Nursing. Ruth was the president of her class and affiliated at the Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. Ruth was a member of the Theda Clark School of Nursing’s final class, graduating on September 9, 1938. Mr. Clark provided financial assistance and she always felt a large debt to him. On April 6, 1940, Ruth married Everett Palmbach in Dubuque, Iowa. They were married by Reverend Everett Sabin in the Methodist Church. Everett preceded her in death on July 7, 1989. Ruth was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Neenah. She was a member of the Theda Clark Alumni Association and served as president for numerous years. As the membership decreased she provided the motivation for keeping them together. She was also a member of the Fremont American Legion Auxiliary and the Dale-Medina-Readfield Lionesses and volunteer services they provide. They kept her busy making her delicious salads for large gatherings of people. She was a member of the Fidelity O. E. S. of Appleton. In 1990, Ruth returned to Neenah and reestablished many old friendships. She volunteered at Parkview Nursing Home for many years. She loved to knit and sew and many children’s hands received the benefit of her mittens. Ruth is survived by her children: Ruth “Peggy” (Jerry) Reeves, Oshkosh; Glenn (Donna) Palmbach, Larsen and Elizabeth “Beth” (Wayne) Nemecek, Neenah; grandchildren: Amy (David) Sleik, Jeri Beth (Jeff) Rykal, Lesa (Jeremy) Derks and Alexis Ruth Nemecek; great grandchildren: Michael Sleik, Harrison, Cecelia and Hayden Rykal and Lilly Derks. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents; a great grandson, Christopher Kettner; a sister, Glendora Russell and brother-in-law, Lyle Russell; and a brother, Fredrick Herrick and sister-in-law, Virginia Herrick. Hoehne, Helen Bertha (Chaganos) Helen Hoehne, 82, Menasha, went home to join the Lord, Friday, May 7, 2010. Helen was born August 13, 1927, in Neenah, daughter of George and Gertrude (Sauer) Chaganos. She married Fredrick Hoehne May 17, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah, and he preceded her in death November 17, 1996. Helen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Neenah. For many years Helen volunteered with the Theda Clark Auxiliary at Theda Clark Medical Center, and she attended the Oshkosh Art Association often. Helen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling, and crafts. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Helen is survived by her son, Leonard Hoehne (special friend, Patty Hittenmiller), Neenah; a daughter, Pat (Carl) Rossal, Wrightstown; a grandson, Jeff Hoehne, Neenah; a daughter-in-law, Pat Hoehne, Oshkosh; a sister, Marion Baldauf, Neenah; sisters-in-law: Thecla Chaganos, Neenah; Audrey Chaganos, Florissant, CO; Margaret (Kenneth) Ratzburg and Marge (Dick) Erickson, both of Neenah; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Helen was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jack Hoehne; brothers, Emanuel and John Chaganos; a brother-in-law, Neal Baldauf. Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial Street, Neenah, with Rev. Paul Holte officiating. Inurnment will follow. Eckholm, Ernest G. “Ernie” Ernie Eckholm, 70, Menasha, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at his home with his family by his side. Ernie was born September 17, 1939, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, son of Clarence and Lorraine (Sauld) Eckholm. He graduated from St. Mary High School in 1957. Ernie married Katherine Boushley October 10, 1964, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. Ernie was employed as a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter with local union 669 and retired from Ahern, Fond du Lac, in 2002. He enjoyed traveling to different places and spending time with his grandchildren. Ernie was a U. S. Navy veteran. Ernie is survived by his wife, Katherine; children: Tina Nett, Neenah; Scott Eckholm, Kaukauna; Jodi (Howard) May, Rapid City, SD; seven grandchildren: Alisha, Taylor, Cole, Brandi, Timothy (TJ), Samantha and Ashlee; brothers: Doug (Kathleen), Menasha; David (Lynn), Stevens Point; Donald, Enid, OK; Clarence (Alison), Winneconne; sisters: Jane (Dennis) Grahn, Patricia Eckholm, both of Gulf Shores, AL; Mary (Dale) Bedjer, San Antonio, TX; sisters-in-law: Susan Farr and Barb (Lee) Catron, both of Menasha; Deb (Phil) Schneider, Platte, NE; brothers-in-law: Joe (Linda) Boushley, Black Creek; David (Sue) Boushley, Menasha; Lee Boushley, Menasha; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nickasch, Verna J. Verna “Micki” Jeanette (Kielgas) Nickasch, 88, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully with her children at her side on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh. Verna was born November 14, 1921, in Appleton, daughter of Albert and Lydia (Bloy) Kielgas. She was the youngest of seven children who grew up in Appleton. In the summer of 1942 Verna married Leo A. Nickasch (Mr. Trees). While Leo A. was away fighting for our country in WWII, Verna began raising young Leo J. with the help of her sisters. Upon Leo’s return from the war, children Susan, Barbara, and Terre were born over the course of the next 13 years. Verna went through life raising her children with all the tools she was given and did a magnificent job. She was an excellent cook as well, especially with her veal birds and angel food birthday cakes! Once the girls were older Verna went to work in the Development Facility North of Kimberly-Clark as a lab technician for 13 years. Verna and Leo A. spent his last years traveling around the area and the state to different places for different meals on given days. Plus she was the woman behind “Mr. Trees”, as they attended many conservation meetings all over the state. In her later years, Verna loved living on the lake, looking out her bedroom window at the wildlife, feeding the birds year-round, and growing and tending to her flowers. Verna’s love for her children was returned fully and her passing will leave an empty place in all our hearts. We all love you mom and grandma! Verna is survived by a son, Leo (Sue), Neenah; daughters: Susan (Tom) Uelmen, West Bend; Barbara Nickasch, Menasha; Terre Berth, Oshkosh; grandchildren: Eric, Ian (Sunny), Jennifer (J.R.) Fuss, Josh, Cheryl (Mike) Jordan Aquilera, Heidi (Rohit) Sharma, Melissa (Chad) Johnson, Travis Klein, Jeff (Amy) Uelmen, Heather (Shaunn) Hulick, Matt (Chris) Uelmen, Michelle Berth; 19 great-grandchildren, a brother, Leonard Kielgas, Sun City, AZ. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Leo A. in December 1989; her parents; sisters: Gertrude, Esther, Ellen, and Myrtle; a brother, Alex. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1390 Breezewood Lane, Neenah with funeral services to follow at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Buss, Irving R. Irving Buss, 86, Menasha, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010. He was born October 12, 1923, in Menasha, son of the late Richard and Lilly (Steltzer) Buss. On June 28, 1947, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton, he was united in marriage to Lois Krueger and she preceded him in death January 24, 2006. Irving served his country from 1943 to 1946 in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was stationed in North Africa, China, Burma and India and felt the Army gave him a complete trip around the world. Irving was employed at the George Banta Publishing Company from 1941 until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Menasha. Irv was devoted to his church, family, his grandchildren and great –grandchildren. He enjoyed all sports and card and domino games with family and friends. Irving and Lois were blessed with 4 children who now survive them: Carol (Donald) Steffin, Darboy; Peggy (James) Marks, Naples, FL; Thomas (Carol) Buss, Neenah; Jonathan (Joan) Buss, Cumming, GA; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Bethel Ev. Lutheran Church, 829 Appleton Rd., Menasha with Rev. Samuel Degner officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service.
Graham, Ardyce Anna (Koch) Ardyce Graham, 80, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010. She was born September 3, 1929, in Fremont, WI, daughter of Emil and Anna (Miller) Koch. Ardyce married LaVerne Graham on June 18, 1949, and he preceded her in death July 24, 1986. Ardyce came from a devoted Christian family and had numerous other relatives whom she loved. She liked crochetting, baking, gardening and enjoying the flowers and butterflies, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Ardyce was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Menasha, and never missed a Sunday unless she was genuinely ill. She will be greatly missed by her family. Ardyce is survived by her 4 children: Gloria (Rev. Donald) Balgeman of Hinckley, IL; Dianna Kargus of Menasha; Randy Graham of Menasha and his girlfriend, Wendy; Sheila (Tom) Hanby of Neenah; 1 step-son, Rev. Vernon (Ellen) Graham of Indiana; 13 grandchildren: Matthew (Sara) Balgeman, Andrew (Erin) Balgeman, Philip (Rita) Balgeman, Shawn (Bailey) Kargus, Dawn (Jason) King, Jesse Graham, Jared Graham, Eric Forseth, Morgan Graham, Amber Graham, Justin Graham, Jennifer (Andy) Michel, Cody Hanby; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 1 sister: Donald Koch; David (Geri) Koch; Charlene (Frank) Kolbe. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary; a sister, Eunice Much and her parents. Gajewski, Marilyn M. Marilyn Gajewski, 86, Menasha, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 11, 2010. She was born May 24, 1923, in Winneconne, the daughter of the late Louis and Minnie (Carow) Miller. Marilyn was a graduate of Winneconne High School in 1942. She married George Gajewski December 25, 1943, and enjoyed 66 wonderful years with him. Marilyn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Neenah. She enjoyed working as a career woman with the power company, Syd Phillco, and the fair stores in Neenah. Also Nigbor Furs and later ran her own business “Nice Things” in Neenah. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family and the many people who knew her sense of humor, resilient spirit and faith-filled life. Marilyn is survived by her husband and the love of her life, George; four children: Georgia Westenberger, Geoffrey (Jeanine), Gregory (Janet), Grayson (Rose); seven loving grandchildren: Josh (Jenny) Westenberger, Soren (Christie), Ambre Neuser-Gajewski, Deedra (David) Hallmark, Morgan (Greg) Salter, Elaine (Chad) Sheveland, Bethany Gajewski; six wonderful great grandchildren and a sister, Ada Stahl. In addition to her parents Marilyn was preceded in death by her brothers: George, Harvey, Robert, Louis; sisters: Florence, Verna, Beatrice, Myrtle, Edna, Ruth, Evelyn and Erna; a son-in-law, James Westenberger. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Avenue, Neenah, with Rev. Robert Novotney officiating. Interment will follow. Grissom, Marion Angelina Marion Grissom, 90, Neenah, died Friday, April 9, 2010, at Vallhaven Care Center, Neenah. She was born October 18, 1919, in Padus, Forest County, WI, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Bartlein) Forrest. Marion married Edward Grissom December 19, 1936, in Iron River, Michigan and he preceded her in death September 11, 1999. Marion was employed by Theda Clark Medical Center for many years and also assisted at Vallhaven Care Center. Marion was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and the Fox Valley Area Union Retirees Club. Marion is survived by her five sons: Larry (Barbara) Grissom, Green Bay; Robert (Aime) Grissom, Neenah; Matthew (Janice) Grissom, Menasha; Edward Jr. (Sharon) Grissom, Combined Locks; Richard (Carrie) Grissom, Neenah; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Marion was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Clint, Matt and Arnold Forrest. Marion had a great love for flower and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed her many outdoor activities. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she made the best babysitter you could ever find. As a loving mother she was always there for her children and grandkids when they needed her help. Thanks Mom! Marion resided at Brookstone Commons in Neenah, WI for the last five years where she made many new friends before having to move to Vallhaven Care Center. The family would like to thank the staff at Vallhaven for their wonderful care during her last days of life. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger Street, Neenah. Interment will follow. Laumer, Edward P. Edward Laumer, 89, Town of Vinland, died peacefully Friday, April 9, 2010, at his home near Oshkosh. He had recovered from surgery for Pancreatic Cancer in 2008. Ed was born February 16, 1921, in Racine, son of Charles and Alice (Schwarz) Laumer. His late brother, Ralph Laumer, is survived by his 5 children Richard, Jim, David, Stephen, and Cathy. Ed and Betty (his wife of 56 years) were married November 30, 1946, in Racine. Together they had 2 sons, Jerry and John. Betty preceded Ed in death on May 24, 2002. Ed was very proud of his sons and their families including John’s wife, Debbie, and their children: Chris, David, Emily, and Brendan. Ed spent 4 years in the Air Force during WWII, where he learned to fly and led a maintenance group for B-17’s, and he got to attend the Nuremburg war trials after the war ended. He also loved to attend the EAA conventions and listen to stories from the test pilots. Ed and Betty established their roots in Neenah in 1946 where Ed started his long career with Kimberly-Clark. They were soon transferred to the K.C. Niagara, Wisconsin Mill for a 13 year stint. During this time Ed started the first cable television cooperative in the state which is still in service today. He then returned to Neenah where he managed a base sheet engineering group. He retired in 1985 and Ed really enjoyed retirement; especially the lengthy consulting assignments in strange places all over the world which were offered by the International Executive Service Corps. These assignments included places like Indonesia, Slovakia, Africa, Poland, and Greece. Ed circled the globe 2 times, and spent time on every continent, save Antarctica. Ed loved to hunt deer on his land in Florence County, and hunted there with the same group of friends for over 50 years. Ed also enjoyed the friendship and love of Marilyn Knorr, with whom he spent his last years with. Ed celebrated life. He was one of those average people from the greatest generation who lived life to the fullest and did so much to make life better for all of us that survive him. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 30 4 S. Commercial Street, Neenah, with Rev. Michael L. Ingold officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. Military honors will be performed by members of the American Legion Hawley-Dieckhoff Post #33 and the U. S. Air Force following the service at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society. Ed’s family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Curtis Baltz, and his helpful staff, who have all been marvelous helpers during this stressfull period of life. We also thank Ed’s surgeon Dr. Rikkers, and his oncologist Dr. Phillips for the expert services that they provided.

Weyenberg, Jackie V. Jackie Weyenberg, 78, Neenah, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 after a brief battle with ALS. She was born March 5, 1932 in Gueydan, Louisiana, daughter of Muriel and Agnes (Potier) Viator. Jackie married Roger M. Weyenberg May 29, 1954 in New York City. Mrs. Weyenberg was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, traveling and camping with her family. Jackie also enjoyed collecting angels, bells and Boyd’s Bears. Roger and Jackie were “winter Texans” for the past 18 years. Jackie loved to watch her grandchildren compete in various sports. Jackie is survived by her husband, Roger; 3 children: Lynne (Gene) Darkow, Neenah; Mark (Patty) Weyenberg, Wrightstown; Sharon (Paul) Bellin, Neenah; 7 grandchildren: Jake, Luke, Sam and Elizabeth Darkow; Karl, Joe and Kate Weyenberg; a sister, Barbara Cahill, Melbourne, Florida; 2 brothers-in-law: Berney LeBlanc, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Ron Weyenberg and special friend Sandy Scheibe, Kaukauna; a sister-in-law, Janet Linskens, Appleton; a former sister-in-law, Alice Weyenberg, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eugene Viator; sisters: Yolande Manier and Frances LeBlanc; brothers-in-law: Joe Manier and Robert Linskens. Foth, Elizabeth J. “Betty” Betty Foth, 83, Neenah, died after a short battle with cancer Monday, April 5, 2010, with her family by her side. Betty was born January 28, 1927, in Marinette, daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Engels) Doll. She married Bill Foth October 14, 1950, and he preceded her in death July 3, 2007. Betty was employed by First National Bank, Neenah, as a teller, and later worked for Reliable Tax Service, Neenah, until her retirement in 1985. Betty and Bill liked traveling, especially to Arizona where they spent half the year at their home for 19 years. She enjoyed gardening, collecting Santa’s, ceramics, knitting, sewing, and playing the piano. Betty also loved playing Bridge which she did with the same women for 60 years. Betty was a charter member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah. Betty is survived by her children: W. Randall (Cheryl) Foth, Mary (Steve) Wideman, both of Neenah; Tom (Mary Ann) Foth, Oshkosh; Patti (Bill) Bierman, Prairie Du Sac; Sharie (Gary) Kaphingst, Greenville; Angie (Dean) Julius, Pine River; 20 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Donald J. Peterson and Don (Barbara) Foth; nieces and nephews. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Patricia Peterson and Joan Alberts; a sister-in-law, Helen (Harvey) Zimmer; a brother-in-law, Ray (Ann) Foth. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division Street, Neenah, with Rev. Michael L. Ingold officiating.
